I have decided, at least for the time being, that I am going to move my blog from Blogger to my website. The main reason is that the picture quality is better, but it is also nice to have everything all in one place.

A Digital Canvas
I bought myself a DSLR camera with absolutely no idea how to use it. I will study up on how to take better photos and post some of my favorites. Hopefully you'll be able to see improvements with every new post... or at least enjoy a picture or two.

Memorial Day 2011 @ The Billy Goat Trail
On Memorial Day, a bunch of us drove out to hike the Billy Goat Trail. When we got to the entrance to Trail A, the most difficult trail of the 3, there was a park ranger there blocking the path. The river was too high and parts of the path may have been flooded. We could go, but they would fine us $175 each. He said they might open it up later, so we kept walking along the reservoir until we got to Great Falls. The river was pretty high and the water was crazy. We eventually decided to do one of the easier, open trails. It was really hot out and a good workout, especially for me as I kept having to catch up to the group after taking some photos because they definitley were not waitnig for me.

Carrie's Sunday League
So Carrie plays soccer on this team some Sundays, but for various reasons, I have yet to see her play. They play on nice turf high school fields and is apparently pretty competitive. Last weekend, I went to go see one of her games and figured I'd bring the camera along too.
Not long after the start of the game, he ball popped up and Carrie headed it for a goal. I was watching the ball in the air so, unfortunately, I couldn't really get a photo. That was the first time she has ever scored in that league and they ended up winning 2-1, so I was good luck.

Spring Flowers
So, I made this post a few weeks ago, but I guess I forgot to publish it... Carrie and I were at her parents house and while she was sanding and painting our bedroom furniture, I was walking around taking pictures...

Topsail Island, N.C.
Carrie and I, along with Nikki and Eric, drove down to Topsail Island, North Carolina for a little mini vacation. The beach house we stayed at was built and formerly owned by Carrie's parents. The house was pretty awesome. It was designed by her father, an architect. They sold it to family friends who let us stay there for free. We also spent an evening in Wilmington, which has a nice little downtown area with a couple cool spots and a really good ice cream shop. It was fun couple days away.
