Cherry Blossoms on the Potomac

I have been itching to go down to the Tidal Basin and see the Cherry Blossoms on the Potomac, so I talked Carrie into going with me. Coincidentally, Sarah P. and Breck were planning on going there too so we caught a ride with them and walked around. We got there just before sunset, so the lighting was nice, but constantly changing, making it difficult to take pictures. I definitely got some good shots, although I wish the blossoms when they were more pink.

Carrie's Half-Marathon

So the half-marathon that Carrie has been training for over the past few months finally took place on Saturday. I was at Brendon's the night before watching the NCAA Tournament games and didn't get into bed until 2 a.m. I got woken up 3 hours later so I could drive Carrie as well as Nikki and Eric to the Marathon starting line. I brought my bike and my camera and posted up at mile #2 to see Carrie and Nikki run by. From there I rode along side of them and then skipped ahead to Dupont Circle to get a good spot to see everyone run by. After that, I metroed to Union Station and got a spot around mile #11 and took some more photos. I tried to make it to the finish line, but I got a bit lost and Carrie apparently crossed a minute or so before I got there.

I got some good photos, but mostly proud of Carrie because she was very worried about not being able to do it and she ended up doing great. However, I will spare you all pictures of her blistery, jacked up feet.

Cherry Blossoms @ Scott Circle

Last Friday was a clear, bright day, so I decided I would grab lunch to go at Cosi and walk over to Scott Circle a few blocks away from Dupont. I sat down on the base of a statue of Daniel Webster and ate my lunch. Afterwards, I took some nice photos of all the cherry blossoms that surround the circle. I had a mini freak-out for a little bit because I couldn't focus on anything with my nicer lens and I thought I had broken it some how. Fortunately, the problem went away went I removed the UV filter I had attached. I'm not sure why that was causing everything to be blurry, but I was just happy my $200 lens wasn't actually ruined. My little shoot lasted about a half hour, then I made my way back to work.

Flowers & First Cherry Blossom of the Year

It was looking very nice outside today during my lunch break, and I had noticed some nice flowers around my building, so I went out with my camera to snap some photos. There are also a few Cherry Blossoms nearby so I got a few of those too. I'm sure I will be taking a LOT of Cherry Blossom photos in the next few weeks.
